Sir,
This morning I mistakenly parked in the taxi rank bays outside the charity shop in Brodick. An innocent, but careless, error.
One of the policemen on duty duly entered the charity shop where I was browsing and asked if anyone here owned the red car parked outside. I called out, ‘Yes.’ Imagine my surprise when he politely told me that I was parked in the taxi zone and that I could end up with a ticket for so doing. I removed both myself and my car and headed off, relieved at the let-off and with no hint of gruffness from the officer at all.
