THE Arran Football Association have paid tribute to former chairman and player Alan Johnson who died on Monday night. He was 53.
Alan was well known across the island and his death which was peacefully at home, after a brave battle with cancer, has left many saddened.
A spokesman for the Association said: ‘Everyone involved in the football family would like to pass on their condolences to the Johnson family. Alan was a massive influence to football on Arran over the years, bringing teams down to play friendlies such as his beloved Queens Park and Greenock Morton. Even after stepping down from the committee he was always on hand to help out and get involved in Arran football.’
