DECEMBER 4

LINDSAYS SCOTTISH WEST DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIPS, Ayr

ANDREW DOUGLAS, 11th in the world mountain running championships, proved the class act over the Mosshill mud and hills while Nicola Hood took the women’s title on her return season as Shettleston Harriers completed a senior team double. Douglas won comfortably by 16 seconds from Lachlan Oates, who was well clear of his Shetteston team-mate Tewolde Mengisteab.

Nicola Hood, who ran her first crosscountry race for two years in November after a spell in the USA, showed the strength which gained her Scottish steeplechase titles in the past when winning by 42 seconds. Katie White came through strongly for second from Michelle Sandison.

Cambuslang Harriers won the masters men’s and women’s team with individual wins for Robert Gilroy and Lesley Chisholm.

GB international Jonny Glen took the under-20 title with Laura Stark of Kilbarchan AAC claiming the women’s gold. Andrew MacAngus picked up under-17 gold while Erin Wallace was the clear women’s winner.

At under-15 level, there were wins for Giffnock North AAC via the strong runs of Heather Barnes and Hamish Armitt. In the under-13 races it was Kilmarnock Harriers who took both titles thanks to the efforts of Fraser Sproul and Jennifer Murray.
