ETHICS BOARD DROPS BRIBERY INVESTIGATION

Seb Coe’s alleged claims of bribery by the Qatar federation will face no further scrutiny

CLAIMS MADE by UK Athletics (UKA) chairman Ed Warner that IAAF president Seb Coe had warned him of potential bribery by the Qatar delegation in bidding for the 2017 World Championships will face no further investigation, the IAAF Ethics Board has said.

Warner, chair of UKA since 2007, who led London’s successful bid, told BBC Radio 5 Live’s Sportsweek programme on January 17, 2016, that a senior IAAF official had warned him of “brown envelopes” being handed out to influence voting among IAAF Council members ahead of the bid in November 2011.
