They could be seen as one of the most prevalent exercises feeding into toxic masculinity. They’re in bro-ey music videos, part of many a workout on a muscle-beach feature, and a staple of Bruce Lee films. But stick with me here because press-ups really have a lot going for them! At their most basic, they’re an exercise that mainly works the pectorals, triceps, anterior and middle deltoids (the front and middle of your outer shoulder muscles) but they also engage most of your other muscles, to help with stability.
