Meera Trehan’s debut novel is a story of friendship between two autistic friends, Asha and Sam. As many old friends do, they take each other for granted. Sam gets accepted into the snobby Castleton Academy and becomes absorbed in a world that is very different from the one he has had with Asha. She is left feeling alone and lonely, while Sam makes friends with an arrogant classmate, Prestyn, who lives in Donnybrooke. Donnybrooke, a mansion that is situated on a high hill, calls itself, “the very best house in town.” Asha, who is not allowed inside the home, finds out the real reason for Prestyn’s friendship with Sam and must decide whether or not to help. How will Asha learn to go through her life without Sam? What will she learn about the nature of friendship and her own coping skills? How and when will Sam learn the value of the friendship he had with Asha?
