8 hot ideas for stoves & fires

Keep warm and create a dazzling focal point with these smart designs, says Emily Brooks

Invisible glass

A ‘big screen’ glass-fronted gas fire paired with a traditional stone mantel gives the look of an open fire, but with vastly improved efficiency and little maintenance. Gazco’s Reflex 75T (from £2,995) fits into a standard 36-inch chimney breast and comes in a choice of linings (pictured is the brick-effect model) and thermostatic control via a handset. The fire is up to 78% efficient, with up to 8.7kW of heat output. If installed as a frameless ‘hole in the wall’, the design would also work well in a contemporary setting.
