Modular design wins contest prize
A timber frame modular system has been announced as the winner of NaCSBA’s Self Build on a Shoestring competition for 2016. Participants created a blueprint for an original starter home costing less than £50,000. The triumphant scheme was developed by self build co-operative Ecomotive and planning consultants Barton Willmore. Its timber cubes can be assembled in a variety of ways to form a range of buildings, from standalone homes to low-rise blocks of flats. The team’s standard setup could cost just £49,644 to create.
