Camping  |  Winter
Without a doubt, the quality of the equipment you use has a big impact on how your camping trips go. Great gear really does make a difference, whether it’s jackets, shoes, sleeping bags or cookers. It’s so tempting to buy a budget sleeping bag from the supermarket, but you’ll soon regret it if you wake up freezing during the night.
And that’s why this is always one of my favourite issues of the magazine; the one when we reveal the new kit that will be in the shops next year.
We’ve sought out some of the best new products, to help you decide how to splash the cash. The new 2020 tents will be revealed in a special issue at the start of next year, but in this issue we’re putting the focus on accessories.
As ever, the Camping team has spent most of the summer visiting manufacturers and suppliers all over the UK and Europe and I’m now fairly certain I’ve seen every single piece of new kit possible! For a gear geek like me it’s a great time of year and I always like to share the joy.
The key is finding the gear that best suits your needs and your pocket. Do remember that most of the kit you’ll see on these pages won’t be in the shops until springtime, so don’t run straight out to your local outdoor store this weekend expecting to see it on display! And bear in mind, too, that pricing often hasn’t been confirmed, either. Otherwise, enjoy and I’m sure you’ll see something that takes your fancy on these pages.
