DVSA U-TURN ON CLASSIC CAR TESTING
The agency in charge of MoT testing says that owners of pre-1978 classics won’t be subjected to tougher new rules if they want to continue with
voluntary annual tests. The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA)
has told CCW that cars eligible for MoT exemption will tested in the same way as previously, rather than being subjected to updated rules aimed at newer cars. Its statement comes just four days before substantial changes are made to the way the UK’s MoTs are carried out. This includes making most classics over the age of forty eligible for exemption, provided that they haven’t been
‘substantially modified’.
