Born on December 26, 1963 in Gentofte, Denmark, and resident in California since the age of 13, Lars Ulrich co-founded Metallica in 1981, with the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal as the template. While his music tastes extend to jazz, Oasis, Rage Against The Machine and Simon & Garfunkel, his first love, Deep Purple, remains close to his heart.
