Windows 11 now lets you make calls via iPhone
The top stories in the world of technology
Microsoft is letting iPhone users make calls and send messages from the Windows 11 desktop, having added this option for Android phones last year.
The feature is available to Windows Insiders as part of the preview build 4805, released on 28 January. The Android version is available to all Windows 11 users who have installed the 24H2 update.
WHAT WE THINK
It’s taken Microsoft far too long to add this feature. Phones are such an essential part of modern life that it should have prioritised these options when it launched Windows 11 in 2021. We understand that it’s harder to make iPhones work with this tool than Android, but even the latter didn’t arrive until last autumn. Adding more options to the tool might even persuade some of the millions of Windows 10 users to finally upgrade to 11.
