For any self confessed car nut, the Geneva motor show is one of the real high points of the year, when a raft of new models are revealed to the world's gazes for the first time. In the April 2013 issue of Diesel Car we preview the prestigious show, and unveil of all the stars of the Swiss show. From the new Nissan Note on the front cover, to the more versatile BMW 3 Series GT to the Volkswagen Golf GTD, which will be a real must for hot diesel fans.
There's also first tests of the substantially upgraded Mercedes-Benz E-Class, the new Toyota RAV4, and Volkswagen Beetle Cabriolet, as well as drives of the Volvo V40 Cross Country and R-Design for the first time. We also get behind the wheel of the Mitsubishi Outlander, Citroën DS4 Automatic and Fiat 500L on UK roads for the first time, too. We pitch Volkswagen's new Golf up against the Ford Focus to see which one is our family favourite, together with On Test reports of the facelifted Ford Fiesta and Peugeot RCZ. The Skoda Superb Outdoor and Honda's uprated CR-Z hybrid are tested too. We also take a look at the Citroën C3 Picasso in our used car section for this month's buyer's guide.
It's our 25th birthday too this month, so we look back at what was popular in 1988, compared to now, and give our verdict on what places are best to trust when you are looking to check out how reliable your next car is likely to be. It's also 100 years since the first car rolled off the production lines of the Cowley factory in Oxford, where various momentous cars in history have been made, from the original Mini, through to the Morris Minor, Rover 75 and latterly a full line-up of MINIs.

diesel, green cars, electric mag

The UK’s leading magazine for diesel, green cars, electric, hybrids and alternative fuelled vehicles, full of advice on tech, mechanics, future plans. great photos inspiring reviews Reviewed 21 August 2022

I like the way it has evolved over the years

I have been buying it in print and online since the early 2000s and I like that it always has focused on the economy end of motoring, or us cheapskates if you like. It has moved to covering hybrids and electric cars which is good, and hasn't forgotten its roots - diesels.

It's a friendly, down to early mag and Doctor Diesel is still the best bit.
