Diesel&EcoCar Magazine  |  August 2019
In our summer special issue, it’s a bumper month for new car unveilings, with the new Ford Puma taking pride of place on the cover. Inside there’s news of the new Peugeot 2008 and Renault Captur, the Mercedes-Benz GLB-Class, BMW 3 Series Touring, Kia XCeed, revised BMW X1, Audi A6 allroad and the updated Renault Koleos and Nissan Navara. In EcoCar, the updated Renault Zoe makes its first appearance alongside the facelifted Kia Niro and Lexus RX, as well as the Hyundai Kona Hybrid.
We’ve been testing the Volkswagen Passat Estate, Alltrack and plug-in hybrid GTE, in addition to the Peugeot 508 SW on UK roads. Renault’s Clio has been driven in petrol guise, and the longer range Nissan Leaf e+ has been put through its paces This month’s twin test matches two hatchbacks from Japanese car makers, with the Honda Civic facing the Mazda3, and we’ve also been testing the Hyundai Tucson N-Line and Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class.
There’s an invaluable guide to driving abroad, a spotlight on five-cylinder engines and this month’s reader’s drives is all about a pair of E39 BMW 525tds models. The Audi TT Coupé and Roadster is the subject of the used car buyer’s guide, and Doctor Diesel picks out another trio of delights in his new column, Heroes or Zeros. We wave goodbye to the Dacia Duster and SEAT Alhambra from our long-term fleet and take a look at car sharing, a kind of Netflix for cars.
