DIVA 250 AWARDS
Most people celebrate their birthday with a cake, candles and perhaps dinner with friends. But we’re not most people. So when we were contemplating how to mark our landmark 250th issue, we launched the DIVA Awards, a celebration of the individuals making a difference in all walks of life, from sport, politics, music and more. Women who speak up, who are unashamedly themselves, who make life that little bit easier with blood, sweat and tears or just by being themselves. Women who have graced our pages for the last 23 years, and help make DIVA – and lesbian and bi life – what it is today.
We asked you to nominate the women who have had a positive impact on your life, and you didn’t disappoint, voting in your tens of thousands for your rad role models. The shortlist, released in January, featured 72 of the most inspirational folks from our community, whose list of achievements and accolades could stretch around the planet. Twice.
