Stockholm Vs the Nazis

A SUMMER STORM WASN’T THE ONLY THING TO DISRUPT STOCKHOLM PRIDE… A BUNCH OF NEO-NAZIS TURNED UP, TOO. BUT, POST-ORLANDO, THE GAYS (AND OUR STRAIGHT ALLIES) WERE TAKING NONE OF THEIR SHIT.

TO BE HONEST, Stockholm Pride seemed a bit dull, a bit provincial and overwhelmingly straight.

Although billed as the biggest Gay Pride in Scandinavia, it seemed as if every teenage schoolgirl in Sweden had been given the okay to stop chasing Pokemons for a day and chase the gay rainbow instead. The 45,000 attendees came with rainbow flags, hats, temporary tattoos, ties, belts and the occasional boyfriend. Some even got their tits out for the gays. One bosom buddy had written across her chest “Homosexuality is gay” and was rewarded with a big cheer from the crowd for her efforts.

Alongside that weird dichotomy of flamboyant floats and heavy political messages, there was a healthy smattering of drag queens (some in Viking regalia), left-leaning politicians, and extravagant lady boys. The usual Pride cast list.

About DNA Magazine

Let's pop our corks – this month we celebrate the 200th issue of DNA. We take a special look back at your favourite DNA covers since we launched in January 2000. Who is your favourite? On the 200th cover is sexy Frank Carter, photographed by Thomas Synnamon. And there's plenty more of Frank to see inside. We introduce our Sexiest Men Alive 2016 list – who made it this year? There are adult stars, superheroes and one sexy-as politician from Canada! Drag Race winner Bob The Drag Queen waltzes into the DNA office purse first, of course. Frank Ocean goes to number one but stays grumpy, and foxy actor Tim Draxl talks showbiz. In other photography news, don't miss Dylan Rosser's Naked In Ibiza. It's shot on Ibiza. And the men are naked. Plus we go to Pride in Tel Aviv and Stockholm, and try our hand at the extreme sport of snowkiting, and have a fling with a Catholic. Happy DNA 200!
