Time’s Up

Both Jodie Whittaker and Pearl Mackie have lately offered their thoughts about the Time’s Up and #MeToo movements: Jodie suggested in NME that “this should be a turning point”. Meanwhile, Pearl brought End Violence Against Women campaigner Andrea Simon to the Olivier Awards on 8 April. The ceremony was hosted by Catherine Tate, with Pearl presenting the award for Best Actress. Both opera awards at the Oliviers were presented by Sharon D Clarke (tinyurl.com/SharonOpera1 and SharonOpera2), while Billie Piper contributed to the Special Award video for the Young Vic’s David Lan. Piper and her Yerma cast helped kick-start Safe Space, Equity’s anti-harassment campaign.
