MODEL BEHAVIOUR
Most of the Doctor Who stories made in 1967 included model sequences that were usually shot at the BBC’s Television Film Studios at Ealing. Episode 4 of The Underwater Menace featured an ambitious model shot of the Atlantean temple being destroyed by flooding, while The Moonbase included model sequences of the TARDIS, the Cybermen’s spaceship and the titular base on the lunar landscape. The Evil of the Daleks featured extensive model sequences that involved blowing up a large number of Louis Marx toy Daleks filled with packets of goo. Filming culminated with the destruction of the large Dalek City model, which was rigged to explode and catch fire in the closing moments of the serial. After this, The Abominable Snowmen included model shots of foam seething out of a cave mouth, and the cave exploding at the end of Episode 6.
