The idea of embroidering with crochet-weight knitting wool can raise eyebrows, but it is so therapeutic that when Victoria Merness’s students try it for the first time, there are usually sounds of ‘Ooh!’ and ‘Ahh!’ rippling around the class. If you are looking for instant gratification from your embroidery, this is the one to do in front of the TV with a cup of tea to hand. Hand-dyed merino and silk wools by Manos del Uruguay, together with pure linen panels, make it a joyous experience. Victoria also teaches workshops in the Manchester and Warrington areas and the North-West. Her next workshop is at Hanging By A Thread textile studio in Warrington on 4 February.
