WORD OF MOUTH
A chance visit to the Code8’s flagship store in London after a heartbreaking loss is now helping sick children and their families.
Katie and Howard Dove called into the Burlington Arcade shop a day after the funeral of their 13-year-old daughter Evie, who tragically passed away in March 2022 less than a year after being diagnosed with a brain tumour.
Impressed by the shop’s service, Katie praised it on social media – only to have Code8 read it and, seeing the family had set up the Evie Dove Foundation to support others, offer to help.
Using the store’s Bespoke Lipstick Bar, Katie and Evie’s younger brother Edward created a bright coral lipstick with orange undertones for the new Evie Dove shade, with 20% of profits from sales going to the Evie Dove Foundation.
“Evie adored life. She was kind, wonderful, funny and goofy,” Katie tells HELLO!. “We wanted to honour her caring soul. She adored helping others, that was her mission.
“We wanted something that made a statement, that was bright, bold and beautiful, like Evie,” she adds. “Evie loved lipstick and lip gloss. She would say to me: ‘Always curl your lashes and wear your lipstick.’ I wanted to create a colour that makes me and others feel brave, strong, fearless and empowered.”
