A tea made from leaves is called an infusion. Simply pour boiling water over fresh or dried herb leaves and let steep for 5 to 15 minutes. A decoction is a tea brewed from the seeds or roots of an herb, boiled in water for 10 to 15 minutes. Plain teas can be used as a gargle, hair rinse, or skin tonic.
