Rugs are a significant investment, and making them last as long as possible is a sensible financial – as well as environmental – decision.
• Ensuring rugs are clean and dry before storing them away will help preserve the fabric – use vacuum bags to remove any air which could allow mould to develop during storage. It’s best to then store rugs in a rodentproof container
• Regularly remove loose hair, and clean rugs at least seasonally – or more often, depending on their use – to get rid of build-ups of grease and dirt
