It’s a great idea to make sure your horse can always access forage. Restricting it can cause stress, so you’re doing the right thing for his mental and gut health. Evidence suggests that the majority of horses choose to graze in 90-minute bouts, followed by around 30 minutes of doing something else, such as resting or interacting with fieldmates, so your horse might be taking a natural break and shouldn’t be harmed by local trips.
