POLE OR FEEDER: WHICH TACTIC GETS MORE BITES?
Is it best you target reservoir bream on the pole or the feeder? It’s a tough question, and both tactics have their advocates and detractors. Two such exponents are Angling Direct employees Craig Watkiss and Darren Jukes. Even though both men are members of the same match team and have fished together for many years, their styles remain as different as chalk and cheese. Craig prefers to follow the fish meal approach pellets, boilies and the feeder, whereas Darren opts for the pole fished over sweet biscuit-based ground bait and live baits, such as maggots, pinkies and casters. To put the two methods to the test, we arranged a bream match on Calf Heath reservoir just off the M6 near Penkridge, Staffordshire. The mature nineteen acre water with depths to 14ft is stocked with plenty of carp and bream.
