We like to think that when Mrs. Bond gave birth to young James, many years ago, the midwife’s first words to the newborn baby were: “Ah, Mr. Bond, we have been expecting you…” We also hope that little Jimmy’s birth was not as protracted as that of the new James Bond release. It has been suspended an age to Coronavirus, so apparently there is time to die after all. But while we eagerly await the new 007 film we’U be bringing you a fantastic feature on Unmade Bonds, and we are sure you will be shaken and maybe also stirred at the Bond films that were mooted but never made. The only one that doesn’t get a mention is the one where M calls 007 in and asks him to disguise himself as a blond businessman called John Smith. “But I have dark hair!,” says Bond. “Do you expect me to wear a wig or something?” “No mister Bond,” says M.
“I expect you to dye.” Expect plenty more Bond jokes next issue, and let’s hope the new film isn’t one of them.
Ray Harryhausen is always a favourite with Infinity readers and our cover image and main feature will be a vivid look back at Mysterious Island, the exciting 1961 science fiction adventure film from a Jules Verne source about prisoners in the American Civil War who escape in a balloon and then find themselves stranded on a remote island populated by giant, mutant animals.
