AS I OFTEN note there are many unusual ways to foretell the future, and many paths that can be taken. This month I am considering the curious phenomena of infantile motions laid before the Scottish Parliament. But what can we read into these?
Based on careful consideration of the signs, some might predict that, by writing a paragraph about something or other and submitting it for debate in the Scottish Parliament, they will merely open a way to get across an important point of principle that would not otherwise be aired.
However, others say that they are really just a cynical way to get the author a bit of publicity, to denounce the Scottish Government on something they usually have no control over, to waste valuable parliamentary time, to try to bring Holyrood into disrepute, whilst generating some useful anti-SNP headlines in the Herald. And you’d probably be right
