IT WILL soon be 25 years since I set off on my East German MZ 250 and sidecar to emulate the great 19th century traveller Alfred Barnard, and visit as many of Scotland’s whisky distilleries as I could. This became first the book, then the radio programme, and finally the STV series Spirit of Adventure, and began my lifelong obsession with uisge beatha, the water of life.
