Have there been any anti-capitalist protests in your city? People all over the world seem to be protesting against banks, bankers and financial institutions. And many of them are wearing masks with a pointybeard and moustache. This mask is actually based on the face of an Englishman called Guy Fawkes. Guy was involved in a plot in 1605 to blow up the Houses of Parliament. As part of the plan, Guy and several others placed barrels of gunpowder under the building. Fortunately, the plot was discovered, and Guy was arrested and eventually executed. The masks were made famous by the film V for Vendetta. In the movie, the mask is worn by a freedom fighter called V. He wants to destroy a fictional fascist party in the UK. In the film, V destroys the parliament building by blowing it up. So, now you know where the masks come from!
