Make your own silicon!
How the Raspberry Pi Pico was designed, a love story…
How are processors made? Well, when an electronic design engineer and an Arm ISA love each other very much, little microcontrollers are born! Processor silicon isn’t designed overnight, the process takes years from initial concept to final production silicon. That process was no different for the Raspberry Pi Foundation’s first own-design silicon: the RP2040 that’s at the heart of the Pi Pico and the many spin-off boards that we’re now seeing.
