The Linux Foundation - the nonprofit organisation set up to promote and advance the Linux kernel and open source in general - has announced a new project in collaboration with IBM to standardise and accelerate earthquake early warning system (EEWs) development.
Build your sensor, deploy, monitor, warn.
To kick things off it’ll start hosting the Grillo OpenEEW project, which has integrated capabilities to sense, detect and analyse earthquakes as well as to alert communities. OpenEEW was created by Grillo with support from IBM, USAID, the Clinton Foundation and Arrow Electronics.
