Q Storage on my NAS is now completely full of my old Time Machine backups. As I’ve just got a new iMac, how can I start again with fresh backups?

A This is a good time to consider replacing the hard drives currently in your NAS system, as you could then put the old ones by as archives, and start your new backups on a set of brand new drives. Before changing anything else, update the operating system on the NAS according to its documentation, to ensure it’s fully compatible with your new iMac, which will prefer using the SMB protocol rather than AFP (which is being phased out in macOS). Ensure the iMac has been fully migrated, and you don’t need anything from those old backups to assist.
