GRAPHICS CARDS LIKE lots of memory bandwidth. Nvidia’s RTX 20-series was the first to utilize GDDR6 memor y, clocked at 14Gbps—a 40 percent increase over the GDDR5X in the GTX 1080 and 1080 Ti. With the RTX 3080 and 3090, Nvidia delivered the first GDDR6X solutions, clocked at 19Gbps and 19.5Gbps, respectively. What’s interesting is that, while the 3080 features chips rated for 19Gbps operation (Micron D8BGW), the 3090 chips are rated for 21Gbps (Micron D8BGX), yet they’re clocked at 19.5Gbps.
