When it comes to discussing color in photography, many photographers tend to deep dive into the science of color and the color wheel. And I get that. But as academically helpful as that sort of discussion might be to some, it isn’t that helpful to most because it’s not how we, as photographers in the field, go about shooting the stuff we do.
In fractions of a second, we have to frame a scene, note the color combinations, shoot it, and move on. It happens so quickly. Color has to become intuitive in the photographic process. Yes, of course, color is a science, but it’s also a gut instinct.
