Model Engineer  |  No. 214 Vol. 4505
Two articles on locomotives; one, an old engine from the Edwardian era is refurbished and another the creation of a rare model in 5 inch gauge.
Stewart Hart continues with his vertical mill engine for a less experienced engineer and Ian Strickland concludes the build of his R&B Engine. Brian Baker presses an ‘Old Friend’ into service (it was only ever bought as a keepsake!) whilst Andrew Johnston applies his mathematical mind to the design and machining of a single enveloping worm wheel and worm.
Journeyman looks at more interesting ideas for unusual model making and James Rizzo, our expert on hot air engines, adds to his ‘prototype’ model of a Victorian design. There’s a little bit of tooling to make and a look at activities in the Clubs to keep you happy too.
