Class 11 12051 displays traces of its former livery – with BRITISH RAILWAYS lettering showing through its later coat – as it rests at Arpley, Warrington, in 1966.
The 350hp diesel ‐electric Class 11 differs markedly from the later Class 08, most notably in the design of the cab and the smaller wheels. In fact, the Class 11 can be viewed as the immediate forerunner to the iconic ‘08’ diesel electric shunter.
