FRENCH DIRECTOR Jean-Luc Godard once declared that films should have a beginning, a middle and an end, “but not necessarily in that order”. Gary Hustwit’s documentary is that idea squared: its interview footage and archive clips, the latter culled from 500 hours of film and video in Eno’s personal collection, ‘randomly’ sequenced courtesy of proprietary generative software created by the director and digital artist Brendan Dawes, meaning that each viewing offers a unique filmic experience.
