CLOSED-ROAD EVENTS ARE GO FOR ENGLAND
A change in legislation in the UK Parliament has paved the way for events in England to use closed roads. The Road Traffic Act has been amended, meaning the decision to grant a closed-road permit now lies with motorsport’s
governing body in the UK, the Motor Sports Association, and finally the council
or councils local to the proposed event. Andrew Jones MP, Parliamentary
Under-Secretary for the Department of Transport, told Motorsport News: “What we will see from this new rule is the chance for more and different types of events. Let’s see what promoters bring forward.”
