True to form for telephoto prime and zoom lenses, most of those in this test group keep a tight rein on distortion. There’s typically almost no distortion or very minor barrel distortion at the short end for zoom lenses, and fairly little pincushion at mid to long zoom settings. Like many recent lenses designed for mirrorless cameras, the distortion performance of the Z 50-250mm VR is flattered by auto correction that can’t be disabled, whereas the Tamron Z-mount lens has the worst distortion in the group, when uncorrected in-camera.
