VISITORS to the Western Isles are being advised to book their transport well in advance this summer.
Ferry operator CalMac has announced foot passengers require a booking from Sunday July 16 to Monday July 24 because of the high volume of passengers expected on ferries for the Hebridean Celtic Festival.
Comhairle nan Eilean Siar, Police Scotland and the Stornoway Port Authority are encouraging travellers to make bus and ferry bookings well in advance of travel.
