Sir,
I would like to draw readers’ attention to the Thirrë-Kalimash tunnel in Albania, which cost 1 billion Albanian Lek and was paid for by the government of that country. The tunnel forms part of a new highway linking Albania and Kosovo. Albania is one of the poorest countries in Europe.
The A83 Rest and be Thankful road has suffered from landslides in recent years and a tunnel from Glen Croe to near Butterbridge could bypass this section, make travelling a lot easier and support the economy of areas that depend on the road.
