RAISED levels of E coli bacteria have been identified at Kilfinichan Bay and Castle Stalker cockles following routine monitoring by the council’s environmental health team.
The team warns that eating shellfish such as cockles, mussels, oysters or razor clams from these areas may pose a risk to human health. Notices to warn the public and casual gatherers have been posted at various locations on the shore. People are advised to avoid eating shellfish from these areas until further notice.
