TRANSPORT Scotland had to replace 17 Gaelic road signs in Argyll and the Highlands because a contractor failed to use a translation service.
According to a Freedom of Information request, the signs on the Great Glen Cycle Route from Fort William to Inverness cost £1,725 to be corrected.
One sign directed drivers to Baile an fhraoich amar – meaning ‘heather bath’ – when it meant to say Acarsaid Bhaile an Fhraoich – ‘Muirtown Basin’.
