LAST week we witnessed the final death throes of the once mighty BHS, an institution on the high street for more than 80 years.
While at the moment it seems unthinkable that one so big should fall, it’s not so many years since the demise of Wool-worth’s and C&A.
The impact of the closure of BHS stores in towns such as Kirkcaldy will be more significant than, say, the likes of Glasgow, but it’s reminiscent of the effect that the closure of Woolworth’s had on towns such as Oban.
