Organists' Review  |  June 2013
This issue was easy to fill (or nearly overfill). We were inspired by next year’s London Organ Day and its American theme. However, the topic is so large it made it difficult to know where to begin, so we started at the same venue: the pull-out and cover is therefore of St George’s, Hanover Square, uniquely an American instrument in the UK. To balance this we wanted to include an American instrument in America, so we invited Thomas Murray to write about the Newberry Memorial Organ in Yale. Thoughts then moved on to Pipedreams, possibly the most famous internationally broadcast organ programme so we were pleased when Michael Barone agreed to be “virtually” interviewed. Finally on the theme we invited a number of British organists who have made the leap to live across the Atlantic to talk about their work and opinions. Interesting reading.
