Brrrr…ice swimmers taking on a floodlit mile in 3.9 degree water
If swimming an Ice Mile (a mile in water under 5 degrees Celsius without wetsuit) wasn’t challenge enough, a team of 17 swimmers from Great Britain and Ireland recently travelled to the Netherlands to take part in the IISA Dutch Ice Swimming Championships – which include the infamous Night Ice Mile. Ten swimmers successfully swam one mile in water of just 3.9 degrees in the floodlit outdoor 50 metre pool.
