Performance VW  |  January 2018
The latest issue of Performance VW is now available to download.
This month’s issue kicks off with David Lee’s Mk7 (p56) which has got to be about as extreme as you can go with an OEM+ Golf R, especially one that’s still driven to the drag strip and can be used daily.
Then there’s Karl Ellis’s 755bhp Mk2 Golf (p8) which is slightly more extreme (both visually and in terms of tune), but despite pushing the boundaries of 1.8T tuning, this car is also one that’s fully street legal and driven to and from the drag strip.
It’s the same in the diesel tuning world, too, as Darkside Developments continues to prove. You may have seen its 528bhp Arosa last month, which is capable of some silly performance times (including 0-60mph in 2.26secs). We were so impressed that we’ve not only been over to the company’s Barnsely HQ for a closer look (p43) at what makes the guys tick, but we’ve also bagged a feature on one of its customer’s 437bhp SEAT Ibizas (p34).
Elsewhere, we’ve got an 800+bhp B5 Audi RS4 (p70), a restored and tuned Mk1 Swallowtail 16v on ITBs, a Swiss Mk4 Golf R32 on air, plus we look at ST Suspensions Black Edition chassis upgrades for the Mk7 Golf platform and have event coverage from Westside’s 10th anniversary show, the classic that is Tatton Park and then we head south to cover the Dub Fiction Spain Party.
