IF ONE thing can help to make life easier when it comes to composition and framing, it’s getting an unobstructed view of the image. The optical viewfinders used in Canon’s DSLRs are bright and clear, but the Live View display (and the EVF in a mirrorless EOS camera) has a few advantages. For a start, they are brighter in low light and you always see 100% of the image.
Well, I say 100% of the view – with all the info displays activated, there’s a lot of detail to see past. Activate the electronic level display screen, for example, and you may also get the histogram along with all the other shooting info too. You can edit the detail displayed on these screens though. Look for ‘Shooting info disp’ in the red Shooting menu or ‘LV display options’ in the yellow Set-up menu.
