Pilot  |  November 2024
The November 2024 issue of Pilot magazine features two flight tests on its cover: Great Lakes 2T-1A-2 and Socata Rallye Minerva 220.
A classic American open-cockpit biplane, the Great Lakes is such a fun aircraft that it had to be put back in production. Meanwhile, the Rallye might not be the sexiest aeroplane around, but the four-seat tourer has a great view from the cockpit and real STOL capabilities. For our flight test, we fly the Minerva 220 version, originally developed for the US market.
Also featured is The Rallye Story. In this history by our French Correspondent Alain Mathon, we look at the story of this iconic aircraft, which had very humble beginnings - and was originally designed for a competition from which it was eliminated.
