EXPLORE THE SCOTTISH HIGHLANDS
Rugged. It’s a word that appears time and again in descriptions of the Highlands and it’s an apt one, too. But here’s a few more to consider: history, beaches, beauty, skiing and sunshine? Scotland may have a reputation south of the border for rain, but for me it always conjures memories of sunsoaked childhood holidays, of river fishing, loch sailing and hill-walking through the bracken around Oban. Above all, it’s a place that’s full of variety: surely, there are few touring destinations, particularly in the UK where you can have a holiday that combines beaches with ski slopes, fantastic climbing with fascinating history and even the odd mythical sea monster thrown into the bargain.
