Dave Cureton, IO Earth
The great and good of progressive music give us a glimpse into their prog worlds.
As told to Grant Moon
Where’s home?
Derbyshire. I used to live in Birmingham but moved out to the sticks about three years ago.
What’s your earliest prog memory?
When I was 10 we had a video of the Old Grey Whistle Test at home, and Focus were on it playing Hocus Pocus. I remember thinking, “This is mental - that guy’s yodelling over a rock song!”
What was the first prog album you bought?
A tape of Steve Vai’s Passion And Warfare in 1991, from the Virgin Megastore in Birmingham. It’s a prog album, big time.
